¡Hola!

A woman wearing sunglasses and a black cap with colorful patches takes a selfie on a sandy beach with driftwood and trees, with a boat on the water in the background.

I’m Yessenia—your Spanish tutor with a story that crosses continents (and a few unexpected plot twists). I was born and raised in Lima, Perú, and moved to the U.S. over 20 years ago, never imagining I’d one day be fluent in English—or teaching my own language with so much enthusiasm.

When I arrived in the U.S., I learned English on my own through full immersion. It wasn’t easy, but it became one of my greatest strengths—a survival skill that taught me how to adapt, connect, and grow in completely new environments. That experience shapes the way I teach today: with patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of what it feels like to learn a new language from the ground up.

As a full-time homeschooling mom, I’ve spent years bringing Spanish to life not just through words, but through culture, stories, and real-world connections. What started as teaching my children (and their friends!) has grown into something bigger: a passion for helping others experience Spanish in a way that feels natural, fun, and meaningful.

For me, tutoring Spanish isn’t just about vocabulary—it’s about sharing a piece of home. And I can’t wait to share it with you!
